Ocala Tradition

To see Ocala National Golf Club is to experience the embodiment of the Castro family’s great devotion to Ocala. Sharing their sense of quality with others ultimately resulted in the development of the Ocala National Golf Club, creating Marion County’s first private club.

Once deeded to its membership, the Club returned to the Castro family interests in 2002 through a partnership forged between Bernadette Castro and golf architect Rees Jones. In June 2012, Citrus Hills Golf & Country Club acquired Ocala National Golf Club, and now welcomes members and the general public with the opportunity to experience this magnificent facility that for the past 50 years was accessible only to members of the Club. The stately colonial clubhouse has been rejuvenated to feature a fitness center, an enhanced Olympic-sized swimming pool, a state-of-the-art golf shop, the elegant Belmont Ballroom that seats 250 guests, as well as smaller, private dining areas throughout the gracious building.

Ocala National has played host for many professional, state and national amateur events. The Club remains the only course in North Central Florida to host a USGA Championship when it was selected host site of the 2009 U.S. Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship. Ocala National also co-hosted the 98th FSGA Amateur Championship, as well as the 2015 U.S. Amateur Sectional Qualifier and was the location for the 2015 Swing Thought Pro Tour, the 2014 Ocala/Marion County NGA Pro Golf Tour, and the 2016 course for the LPGA Coates Golf Championship qualifier.
